Yo

So we got almost 3 inches of snow yesterday so all of us went out to shovel before I left for work. Wrong idea. The clouds went away and the sun came out a few hours later and most of the snow we received is gone. At least I got to work the muscles a little bit.

The weekend was good. Friday was the usual grocery shopping. I ran errands with mum and dad in the evening and didn't really have a chance for dinner before going out. I met Lindsey and Bobby downtown and we went to Qdoba for a quick bite to eat. I got some chips and salsa. Luke met us there and we went to the Union and shared two pitchers of Spotted Cow. I am not a big beer drinker, but that stuff was good. We met up with Ashton and Airyn and few other girls we recognized, but didn't know. We were happy to meet up with Ashton; the other girls...not so much. I don't know Airyn that well so I don't really have a big issue with her. Luke did because she's been wanting to get with him for years and he keeps telling her no. Anywhoo after leaving the Union we stopped at this one bar and acted like college kids. A little goofy and had fun with a camera. I left at about 11:15 since I had to work the next day.

Work was busy and good. After work I ran 5K on the treadmill and got stuff ready for Sam's. I showered and played with some puff pastry. I made some with ham and mozzerella, peanut butter and apricot jam, and spinach and tomato. We talked and played games all night. I left at 11:30'ish since I had to work Sunday. Work was good. A bit slower than a typical Sunday, but I think the weird weather kept some people at home. After work I ran some errands and picked up stuff for my birthday shindig. I came home, watched TV, made dinner and watched the F1 race.

Today I have done the following: went on the treadmill, worked on birthday shindig stuff, practiced my violin, went for a walk and stopped at the bank and grocery store and make random food.

Random thought: I should not be sitting in this position.

Two weeks late, way to go menstrual cycle

Just sayin'.

Last night was fun. Class was good. After class I went to Jolie and Justin's. I really wasn't in a drinking mood so I didn't drink. Jolie and Luke did and we all had fun. I didn't climb into bed until a little after 3:00 a.m. I left for work at 10:30. I thought I worked at 11:00, but I looked at the wrong date and I actually started at 10:00. Whoops. They weren't upset and I saved them an hour of payroll. I made some cookies and cakes today. After work I went to the library and picked up a few cookbooks. I made one of the pasta recipes this evening and it turned out pretty good. I went on the treadmill for a little bit as well.

I finished my birthday shindig menu and it is as follows:
-Roasted red pepper and tomato soup
-Ginger, garlic & onion polenta
-Hummus and veggies
-Baguette and butter
-Birthday kringle
-Misc. booze (mostly vodka)
-Alcoholic smoothies

Random thought: I'm tired.

Sunset

The day started out cloudy, dreary and rainy, but it's ending with sunshine. It's going to be rainy for the next 36 or so hours, but I'll take the sun while I can.

The weekend was good. I worked both days. Val and I walked to Trader Joe's after work yesterday. I bought some apples and tried this reduced-fat smoked cheese. The cheese is pretty good; it helps that it's smoked. It tasted pretty good on my turkey sandwich for lunch today.

My Brewers were on TV today. They lost, but it made me happy to see them. And I saw my favorite Klements commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9H3neys1
JM. I know the whole commercial by heart, although I am not a big fan of their product. I would LOVE to be a sausage for one of the races sometime.

Tonight I have my orchestra class. I practiced for almost 1 1/2 hours today. If I practiced that much every day or every other day I'd be a lot better. Luckily I have somewhat of a natural talent for playing. Practicing and I have had a love-hate relationship: there are times when I hated to practice whatever we were playing and other times I'd play every day and enjoyed it. I enjoy the songs we're playing. I should just buckle down and practice for even 20-30 minutes every day. After class I'll be going over to Jolie and Justin's and perhaps playing some games and planning my birthday shindig. Shindig will include goodie bags. :)

I lost my virginity

Food virginity that is. I had actual sushi at a Japanese restaurant for lunch and I ate at Cold Stone Creamery for the first time too. The worker at Cold Stone was cute and was really talkative. You can't exactly blame him since in walked three beautiful ladies. ;) It was funny watching the difference in how he interacted with us as compared to other customers.

Yesterday was a good day at work. We had a busier day than I expected. The health inspector also came in. Only a few minor violations and one major one that we can easily correct; it sounded like he was trying to find things wrong. It was a gorgeous day yesterday so I spent some time outside and chatted with the neighbors and Kitty, the cat. Today I worked out for a little bit and watched some TV before heading out to lunch. I went for another walk after I came home. I played with Harry, the neighbor's dog. LOST and CSI: New York are on tonight so I'll watch that.

Random thought: RIP Natasha Richardson :'(

She's my cherry pie

"Slumdog Millionaire" is a good movie. If you have not seen it, please do. Or at least rent it when it comes out on DVD.

I worked Saturday. We had a very busy day, but that also translates into good business and little waste. I was home a little before 5:00 and since it was so nice out I went for a walk. After my walk I showered and started on my chicken for my salad and making my ice cream. That night was dessert and drinks night at Laura's so I wanted a light dinner. I headed over there at a little before 8:00. I got to hold baby Eliot - she has grown soooooo much in just a few months and her eyes are open more often. As the youngest child and growing up with other kids my own age I am literally watching and learning how children grow up through my friend's children and through my neighbors. I probably ate too much dessert, but I rarely eat dessert and I ate good the day before. It was a very fun night.

Sunday night I worked as well. VERY busy day and GOOD day. Our main night baker just quit so we talked about things and I may be picking up a night shift once a week. Things are still being worked out, but if it was consistent (the same night each week) I would not mind doing it. Plus it would give me a chance to learn more. I visited with our neighbors after I got home. Since it was French food night I made a quick olive dip and crepes before heading over to Jaime's. Luke was late, as usual. We made dinner and watched "Amelie." I was home by 11:00 and watched the last half hour of the 30 Clubs in 30 Days special on the Brewers.

A bit off-topic, but Jolie said I need to blog about it so I am. I was on my high school paper for 3 years and was even editor for one semester my senior year. Jaime's brother is a senior this year and he brought home a copy of the paper. We all read it and I seriously wanted to write to the paper and say "WHAT THE HELL?!" Granted when we were there the paper was not perfect, but it has gone down hill. Articles have opinions inserted in them when it is not an opinion article. Their sports pages did not talk about school sports. Granted February is in the middle of the winter sports season, but sectionals and play-offs are coming up. Spring sports are coming up. It just made me sad because it's not money that is making the paper bad. I don't know the advisor/teacher or any of the students, but it's simple editing or it may have to be better teaching that will improve the paper.

I do it all 4 love

I worked Wednesday, which kind of messed me up since I kept thinking that the next actual day (Thursday) was Friday. We had a good day Wednesday. I was really tired so I took a nap after work and woke up right as Ryan Braun hit a double for the US and scored a run in the World Baseball Classic. Does my body know me or what? I wake up right as a Brewer gets a hit.

Thursday was good. I didn't work until noon so I slept in a little bit and had a very nice workout. I had lunch and went to work. We were done a little before 4:00 so I stayed at work; Ashton joined me right before 4:30. We talked for about 20 minutes before heading out for margaritas. We waited for Sam and Chana and met Becca there. Goooooooood times and gooooooooood drinks were had. Becca and Ashton had to leave early so Chana, Sam and I just talked/sobered up a bit for about an hour. I drove Chana home, had dinner, read and went to bed around midnight.

This morning I woke up and walked 10K on the treadmill. We just got back from grocery shopping. I'll be baking this afternoon and Sam, Chana, Ashton and I are going to see Slumdog Millionaire tonight.

Random thought: I'm hungry.

Je suis une dipshit

I had my orchestra class last night and after I park I put my keys in my coat pocket. Class was good and after I'm done packing up I reach in my pocket - no keys. I check my other pocket - no keys. I dump out my purse - no keys. I go back to the orchestra room and look around - no keys. I began to retrace my steps back to my car. I called my parents to let them know that they'd have to pick me up OR (hopefully) unlock the door. I get to the car and THANK YOU JESUS my keys are in there. I called Tim and talked to him while I waited for my mom. The people working the pay-booth in the ramp had a laugh at my expense.

Today was an okay day at work. I filled in for Silvia so I worked out front today. I came home and went on the treadmill. I made a quick veggie stock and now am cooking beans for my soup.

Random thought: Margaritas Thursday, Pizza Saturday and French food on Sunday - must watch diet VERY carefully this week!!

Dress and shit talk

I went back to the thrift store and bought the $10 dress this morning so I will be a German or Norweigian beermaid for Halloween. Of course they must have braids so my hair needs to be long enough. Hopefully I can last that long with long hair.

The weekend was good. I worked both days. Last night was Indian food night. I didn't get home until a little after 5:00 and I had to be ready by 6:00 so I came home and went right to work on the food. It ended up pretty good. We played Nintendo, Mario 3, Dr. Mario and Wheel of Fortune. It was awesome. After video games we watched Jurassic Park - the first time I had ever seen it. It had its moments, but I'm glad I didn't see it in the theatre.

Random thought/quote/memory:

Jen: Hang on, I've got too much shit, I need to move some.
Nicole: Don't worry, I've got a lot of shit, too.
Me: Not me, I shit this morning.
Nicole: Hey, I shit twice!
Nicole: That's why I like hanging out with you guys...
Jen and Me in unison: Because we can all talk shit!

Vacation

I

Need

To

Get

The Fock

Out of

Wisconsin

Or at least Madison.

Am I cheap? I've got some extra cash so with some planning I could take a weekend trip, but then I don't because I think about Opening Day weekend and all of the gas I'll be using/buying and because I'd feel bad asking off for work. Maybe May...

Random thought: Indian food night tomorrow!

Psycho

I dyed my hair burgundy today and when I was rinsing it out in the shower it was like that scene from Psycho. Awesome.

Jason Mraz!

Yesterday I found out that Jason Mraz is coming to Madison the first weekend of May. Tickets go on sale Saturday morning, but I joined his fan club yesterday so I could buy the pre-sale tickets that went on sale this morning. $36 per ticket (I bought two), plus ridiculous service fees so it wasn't too bad. I rarely treat myself and most artists go to Milwaukee or Chicago. I was able to get pretty decent seats and I might have been able to get better seats Saturday morning when they go on sale to the public, but I work Saturday and would not have been able to sneak away to call or order somce we're always busy. It was different when I bought the baseball tickets since that was a Friday and we were not very busy at that time.

Today was good. I stayed up late and woke up semi-late. I tried our scone recipe from work and tried to make it healthier, but there was too much liquid so I put the mixture in a casserole dish. Turned out pretty good. I ordered the tickets and read and did the newspaper games (sudoku and kakuro - have to keep the old noggin' sharp). I made lunch and went for a walk. I walked to a far Walgreens to see if they had this temp hair-dye. They didn't so I walked home again. I was out for maybe 1 1/2 hours. I came home and made German Potato Salad for dinner. I also made a quick batch of fresh salsa which I will have soon. I may go out tonight, but part of me doesn't want to. We'll see.

Random thought: I am tired.

Twilight = comedy?

Pimp

[protected post] Who knew the first 20 minutes of "Twilight" were a comedy?

Luke, Ash, and myself went to see "Twilight" at the cheap theatre. I had read the book, Luke read the first quarter and Ash hadn't read any of it. We all figured it wouldn't be too great since it's targeted for a younger audience. The make-up in the beginning was horrible but got better. The overall editing was so-so. Wherever they filmed was beautiful so that was good. It honestly got better as the movie went on and they stayed true to most of the plot.

On Friday Jolie and I went shopping. I found a skirt for cheap that goes well with my Dalziel tie (thanks [info]atlanticat ) so now I just need to find the right shirt and I will wear that outfit for a fun adventure. I also found a dress similar to a German beermaid; I would have bought it if it was almost Halloween.

I worked Saturday. It was a so-so day. After work I went on a field trip to Whole Foods. Their prices weren't as bad as I thought. I bought some really good flaxseed and something (I don't remember what the other main ingredient was) chips. I wanted to find baked chips, but the calorie content wasn't too bad. I also found this peanut butter I saw featured on a show. I LOVE peanut butter, but wisely don't eat it too often so it'll be worth the price. After I got home I worked on some guacamole and then went over to Sam's for drinks and games. I won in Quelf. The evening was almost ruined by a phone call I got; I had to go home and try and fix some issues. I left early and didn't drink too much since I had to work Sunday.

Sunday was a very good day at work. After work I went for a walk. Ash called me about the movie and we met at Jolie's at 6:30. After the movie we went back to J & J's for some drinks and talks. Whiskey = ucky. Tequila = okay. Luke, Jolie and I had a long talk about dieting and losing weight. Luke and I both used to be overweight; Jolie is overweight and is trying to lose weight so we were all giving each other support and bouncing ideas off of each other. Good times.

Random thought: Jason Mraz AND Plain White T's in Madison - MUST GET TICKETS!
